If the frequencies are very close together, then, theoretically, there could be a chance for clock biting, indeed. Yes, that's possible. Then, advanced Vcc filtering should be provided.

Maybe your application suffered from this?

no, it was ~12MHz (uC) and 20kHz (OPamp) and the OP-amp noise would not come down far enough till we synchronized.
