the worst possible approach, this is how all the code that "absolutely works" and then fails whenever it is not used exactly under the same circumstances as originally e.g. you add a pulsed LED and the SPI fails. just look at all the posts about ATmel 'programmers' from the web that say they work but the user can not make run.
