#158819 - Complexity contra recommendable
Responding to: ???'s previous message
I spent an hour yesterday listening to a Swedish ultra-distance runner who have rowed across the Atlantic and many times run 150+ mile races.

A little of the text in english - most in swedish:

Complexity is one thing.

Recommendable is something else.

You will not find one single post in this thread where I would recommend a software-based SPI slave. I have done my best recommending that it should not be done. Hardware-based SPI can in some cases be run at many Mbit/s. Software SPI can get into troubles at 10kbit/s (50us reaction time/clock change).

A software-only transfer should always try to have some way to stretch the clock or acknowledge each state change. More complexity, but safer.
