#83240 - Depends on circumstances, I said.
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Are you serious ? Design a PCB, print, expose etch, drill and populate and test in 30 minutes?

Single sided PCB, only relays/terminals drilled. If you are well-equipped, why not.
Or 15 minutes design, send to a pro for processing, after 2 days another 15 minutes for rest of the stuff.
The same time to wire it up on a protoboard.
Well, being honest, maybe 2-3 hours all of this. Another 2-3 hours to go shopping for the parts.

But on the other hand, be honest too, how long does it take to figure out things with a PLC? Get the stuff, get rid of the rep :-), install the soft, switch off the cellphone as the rep tries to sell you 1kpc more :-D, try to understand how and why it is or is not working? (also as an answer to Erik Malund's "cost-of-time" remark).

We aren't selling this as a product remember, its to fix one problem. It is what PLCs are FOR.

If a one-time stuff, THIS is the ideal task to learn the lesson (noise sensitivity, cost of time, hassle with "customer" etc.)! Yes, this might be also the ideal time to start PLCs, no doubt; the choice is Ronan Meere's, we just giving suggestions and I am eagerly awaiting him telling us how he proceeded.

And, you wouldn't expect to make a big profit on your first project, would you?

PS. Sorry for the stupid newcomer's question, but how do you post pictures?
