#83252 - BASIC 52
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Jacob,

There is a variant of BASIC that used to be burned on the 8052AH-BASIC, now long dropeed by Intel, but open sourced by them. YOu can get it from various sources, and it has been fixed, modified and extended by various folks, like Elektor who released version 1.3 of it. There is an 80C320 version too.

A 8052basic needed RAM, but incorporated enough firmware to burn its own eproms on board, and then set the system to run automatically from ROM when rebooted.

You could extend the BASIC yourself too.

And it had 8 digit FP support.

It was very powerful for the 8K footprint, but rather slow when talking to peripherals, where you had to srop into assembler, which wasn't terribly easy to link in.
