1). You simply don't need to. Using SMS-style abbreviations makes sense when you are using a cellphone, but I do assume you are not using one of those to access this forum. And you also do not have to cram your message into 160 characters here.

2). While it may be "... simply fast and makes life easier ..." for you, it isn't for everyone else. The few seconds gained by you, as poster, are lost in, maybe, three- or fourfold by each and every reader of your message! Considering the fact that most of the regulars on this forum have paid jobs, that's a lot of time and money wasted.

3). Language barriers. For a lot of users here, English is not their native language and I can imagine it makes life pretty difficult if, in addition to struggling to make sense of a foreign language, you also have to struggle to make sense of some verrrry cryptic abbreviations.

4). Clarity! Language is (arguably) mankind's most powerful tool, because it enables us to convey the thoughts we have in our heads to others in a clear and unambiguous manner. Using SMS-isms is like filing off the teeth on a saw!

5). It is also just plain rude to expect the people you are asking for help to 'decode' your message before they can even begin to understand what you are talking about. If you can't be bothered to state your questions or ideas in plain English, why would anyone else be bothered to help you?
