#86835 - Ambiguity (a case study) Responding to: ???'s previous message |
This actually happened recently on a different Forum: A question
was asked about trying to do something (from memory) "with my m8", where in context "m8" was interpreted by most everyone as a name for a specific device. Over 3 days and perhaps 20 responses, people gave answers relevant to the ATmega8 device, only to be told "that doesn't work on my device". It finally turned out that the question had to do with a different device entirely. If the original questioner had spelled out "with my mate" rather than using the (Australian?) SMS "m8" for it, he probably would have had an answer in an hour. |
