#93803 - Myths & Misunderstandings Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Hi Steve,
What was this thing about having to send a copy of something unopened to oneself by USPS ? In the case of patents, there is the need to prove first work, and this seems to have been someone's idea of a way to do just that, with a postmark. But I have never met an actual patent attorney who suggested it. No, as far as I can tell this is more akin to unban myth than actual patent law. In any case it has no bearing on copyright law. It is, here as there, sufficient to have written something to own the copyrights to the thing. |
