I suspect that you are right. I also suspect that those responses are coming from the failed side of the old Iron Curtain (both geographically and philosophically).
Geographically, absolutely, just look at Full Name: .... it is followed by Poland. Philosophically, it is, unfortunately, way more widespread. Just read: "woudln't cost much. A megabyte of diskspace, 20 megabytes yearly of transfer extra, 3 seconds more during a backup" It is the old philosophy, "it cost nothing to make a copy". OK for the benefit of some, let me take that idea to the end. Acme software spent $1 million making a program. Right now they have sold 800 copies at $1000 each. It cost them just a few cents to make a CD so why do they want me to pay $1000 for the software?. Then, of course, there is the much worse philosophy; Software should be free, so I do not feel bad about stealing it. Erik |
