That wasn't my point. My point was "not to make it available in any way" is morally wrong. It is, however, not reasonable to expect suppliers to support stuff for eternity. In the meaning of "support" as "warranty", "replacement parts", "updates", "hotline" - I agree. But removing old drivers from the directory of your FTP site, making old datasheets unavailable, threatening to sue whoever attempts to post a mirror of the drivers site, it's a different matter. Keeping these things available woudln't cost much. A megabyte of diskspace, 20 megabytes yerarly of transfer extra, 3 seconds more during a backup... But "that product is obsolete, so let's wipe all the traces we ever had anything in common with it"? I don't quite understand it. Are they ashamed they made it, or what? |
