Therefore, concluding from your thesis: "maintainablity is most important" one could say open source kicks total ass off any close-source software, because no matter what mess is the open source code, close-source is still less maintainable. Is that what you mean? If the human were so that one could give everyone that paid the source without anyone that did not pay getting it. Does that sound likely to you? Open source from anyone that makes their living from products is blue sky dreaming. So, if there is a problem with someones code and you have not ensured that the contract included maintenance you have brought it upon yourself. I have heard that some day open source will cure cancer, but I am not waiting for that day. Open source is great for amateur societies, but murder for those trying to make a profit. The |
