I just did some price checking at digikey. Looks like all the required parts (some have minimum qtys), less the uC is about $86. Sounds about right. I noticed that there are no sockets on the bill of materials, but it looks like there might be in the picture. Thanks for reminding me about those! I'll add the sockets to the bill of materials. Yes, all ICs are socketed. Also is this a 4 layer board? It's 2-layer. Another thing, the P0 & P2 are used only for the address bus. Are they also run to a header in case you want to use directly? Yes. Check the schematic and look at the "MCU & Latch" page. Specifically, this page of the schematic. All ports are exposed on headers as is the latched low-byte address of the address bus, as are PSEN, RD, WR (duplicated since P3 is also exposed on its own block), as well as two "OTHER" memory-mapped enable pins from the '138 for possible expansion with user devices in the address space. One other thing, with all the hoopla about RC resets, why put the option? I'm certainly not criticizing, just wondering. Because on the SBC I had/have to choose a specific supervisor. And while that supervisor may be readily available in the United States, that specific supervisor may not be as easy to find in other parts of the world. By making the RC reset available, the SBC design can still be built even if the specific supervisor I chose for the design cannot be found locally in other parts of the world. Like I said, I would be interested in either a bare PCB or the kit, but there's no reason to change your schedule. Thanks. I've received some emails, too, so I'll keep you posted. At the very least it seems that bare PCBs would be easy enough to provide early than the beginning of September. I wasn't going to place an order for more PCBs until I was ready to actually build the things, but if there is interest in bare PCBs I can certainly place an order earlier and ship that to those who want them. I'll keep everyone posted here in the forum. Regards, Craig Steiner |
