#115643 - To stop an urban legend ... seems imposs
Responding to: ???'s previous message
A simple communications setup is to use .....
I will not repeat the bullshit 'solution'

To stop an urban legend ... seems impossible

On a regular basis the total bullshit about RS232 without a MAX232(equivalent) and similar pieces of garbage turn up in the forum.

Every time a number of posts refute the idiotic assumption that you can make something incorrect function correctly by any means other than luck and lots of it.

It is one thing to see it posted by someone in farawayistan that has a 10 day camel ride to get to a place where a MAX part is available, but to see it posted by someone [Tony Gelonese (Adelaide Australia)] that has local access to parts is truly disheartening.

Erik

No design can be verified by testing, only by design. A succesful test only show that at that time, under those circumstances no error was detected.
The classic quote is "succesful testing does not prove the abscence of bugs, it only proves the abscence of known bugs"
