#116516 - I did not make the standard Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I'm just tired of Erik's attacks on people who don't want to do things HIS way
I did not make the standard, how does "follow the standard" become MY way????? Also, why do you keep insisting on YOUR way? If you would, just once, realize that we are not talking about 1489, MAX, diodes or any such thing, we are talking about the RS-232 standard and noise margins. That you keep changing the subject to 1489 or whatever does not prove diddlysquat. Yes, the standard is what it is. I'd be really pleased if people would actually read and attempt to understand it. The 1489 was, for over 25 years, THE standard RS232 receiver. Clearly, Erik had not previously encountered it. He's apparently operated all his life under the assumption that one had to use a MAX-series device with its internally-generated bipolar supplies. That's just not the case. 1) you mix up the RS-232 standard and "the standard RS232 receiver" . 2) I may and may not "have previously encountered it", but I recall discrete circuits using dual supplies. 3) I have never said "that one had to use a MAX-series device" I have said "follow the standard" and also said "using a MAX232(equivalent)is a common way of doing so" If you would stop putting words in my mouth, I would not have to constantly correct you Erik Sadly, the hundreds of lines of senseless argument over something irrelevant has watered-down whatever wisdom Richard's had to contribute, and reduced the overall value of comments he's made in the past and will make in the future. Things have a tendency to work both ways. |
