Or better yet, get one of the SILabs evaluation boards. They come complete with a little power supply, a USB programming adapter with a cable, and a CD full of super software that gets you up and running almost instantly.

If you want to connect something to a SILabs devboard, SILabs tells you to use a connector where the minimum order is 2500 ea.
I use Digi-Key 609-2115-ND which you can buy in ones.
