I agree that it is probably not advisable to reinforce defective notions about serial port level shifting in this forum, and I submit that this thread is probably one about PC serial port to 805x wiring, more than anything else (the circuit hasn't changed since back when it did function properly). I, myself, have never encountered any transmitter that pretended to function without a negative supply from somewhere, though. As a result it's hard for me to envision anyone believing, even for a microsecond, that the transmitter might produce the required minimal -3 volts without a negative supply.
What that has to do with ISP/IAP, or any other "modern" feature of 805x's in the context of making an 8032 board work, escapes me, however. RE |
