#142202 - please note I said \"works\" not works. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
There's NO WAY you can build an RS-232-compliant interface with resistors alone and no negative supply. If you know a trick that "works" then you should spell it out, particularly if you know it doesn't work. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, believes that you can interface at RS232 levels without a negative supply. It just happens that the MAX232 generates its own, rather noisy, negative and positive supplies for the interface.
1) I posted nothing about "RS-232-compliant", what I have seen has definitely not been 2) please note I said "works" not works. 3) I do not recall a phrase to search on, but the posts (paraphrasing) "you do not need a RS-232 transciever" and "why does my working and tested RS-232 not work with my new PC" have not exactly been rare. 4) I e-mailed you an example, there is no way in hades I'll post it in the forum for some unsuspecting sod to copy.
