#150546 - other boards Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Vector makes some better, albeit more costly, boards. These have a ground and power plane on opposite sides of the board, but no pads or plating-through associated with the holes. They're better suited for placement of individual socket pins, which Vector also sells, but which can drive the cost of a wire-wrapped circuit well over $100 for even just a few components.
Hopefully someone else makes similarly ground- and power-planed boards. ISTR that VERO made what they called "colander ground-plane" boards, which didn't use the poured planes, but did use a lattice pattern. For now, I'll use what I've got, and have more made as I need. $20 for a 4.5" x 6" board is not unreasonable if it's well made with mask, planes, and plated through holes that don't come off when you're soldering and desoldering. Some of my boards have been in use and reuse for over 25 years. Unfortunately, EPA restrictions forced the excellent circuit board house I once used to close. They held the half-mil tolerances on registration and etches, and were capable of putting the 5 mil vias on my boards. I sorely miss 'em ... RE |
