once again, the question is how many ideas can we come up with to accomodate emergency calls
I am speaking from the perspective of the one I know (CDMA) and with CDMA, you would basically need a relay station, of course the bitstream interface between receiver and transmitter could, theoritically, be handled by a '51. However, that would be less than 10% of the system. I really think you have "placating legislation" here. I think the purpose of the law was to outlaw jamming in general and the clause "you can jam a movie house, if you do not jam emergency calls" is just some legislator getting his wish although it never is going to happen due to cost. Some day in the future, when all cellphones are GPS equipped, there is a possibility of handling it at the base station, then we may get our peace. Erik |
