I think you should use some not typical connector.
A preaty is mounted on PCB Female Mini Din 9 (I use it in my stuff) or 7 pin connector with plastic horizontal koder, different than PS/2 style. It is very cheap (1 $). An "Idiot" won't to have cable with this plug, and it will look like specialized very small conector. Next things is Optoisolation and "termination" resistor. You should construct connection by two pins one to an optoisolator and second terminated by resitor in plug to ground or supply. It make next step to prof unauthorised working with this connector. Example Pin 1 - connect TX to fotodiode in transoptor; Pin 2 - connect resistor 100 OHM do Pin 3 (internal ground); pin1 -------DIODE----- (TTL) pin 2 ---Resistor ---] pin 3 ---------------] GND when you plugin a plug without resitor betwen pin 2 and 3 your optoizolator is not supplied, and no connections. Next things is power supply you can use diode, and one small resistor to cut current or current limiter. (great thing is use second connector or external supply). |
