Erik, tell me more. You want a TX control pin for something like a differential driver/receiver direction control? Certain issues crop up with such an idea. 1)What should be the active state for transmitting? 2) How much delay is needed before talking? 3)How much delay is needed after the last char is sent? 4)What I/O pin should be used? My guess is that a specific location in user code memory can store the Port pin bit address so that any Port pin can be used. Since ISP can be "user-installed" I might be willing to do this unofficially if there was some real interest.
