#88696 - I am confused...
Responding to: ???'s previous message
FlashMagic->Advanced->HalfDuplex...
I learned about it reading this: http://www.esacademy.com/software/...reply_1062 . But, wait - Erik, isn't it yours, the very next post? :-)
But if it is not in this mode (when transmits a character and waits until it is echoed back) then what is it doing? I may be wrong, but I suspect, that both tools spit off a whole intelhex record and wait, until the whole echoes back together with the confirming fullstop, crlf or anything else - this again facilitates halfduplex operation.
But this alone is not enough - the transmit enable has to be controlled - on PC, as the programs don't control it, some auto-direction facility is needed, either a one-shot, or a small mcu, or a smart UART/card (not uncommon on industrial-grade PCs/cards).
On the mcu side, the bootloader can be modified for this type of operation, if it resides in FLASH (e.g.
http://www.8052.com/forum/read.phtml?id=84034) or a custom bootloader can be written.
