The is a company named Zellweger (I think the spellink is correct) that makes a mains signalling system that can turn devices on/off over a large distance. I think it is like X10 on steroids in that a fairly large (as in volts) signal is coupled into the mains. So what you're trying to do is not new. Funnily enough, I've never actually seen this signal but I have had to design light dimmers that are tolerant to this signal. The killer is that it is not frequency locked to the mains, so it can drift through zero crossing - this upsets most light dimmers! |
