#96261 - SNR Responding to: ???'s previous message |
By the way does anybody knows some kind of rule of tumb for a minimun SNR (signal to noise ratio) that a receiver must find in order to work in some way. I know it probably has to do with BER (bit error rate) and good old shannon theorem of channel utilization
I'm not concerned about BER, i'm planning to send the On command many many many, many! times I found that moderm modems in order to be cheap they can work with 3 or 6 dB of SNR I made an estimated of 6 dB of SNR for 600 meters in my system dB = 20 log10 ( Vreceive / Vnoise) is it too little? Too much things have to be considerated! i'm going to have a look of Proakis' signal communitations book For those who wonder i'm going to send the information in ASK (cheaper :D than FSK but with more BER :( ) with a carrier of 60kHZ |
