Yes it's been superseded, but, it's otherwise identical to the 89C430, so, until he goes to production, he can experiment with this. It seems to work OK most of the time.

I have a design that works great with a '420 but does not work when a '450 is dropped in with the exact same binary. Although I haven't thoroughly investigated, given the design's generally tight memory timings in the first place, it's quite possible this is the problem. So, prototyping with a '430/'440/'450 would probably be a good idea. --Sasha Jevtic |
