That wouldn't stop me from using a 420 if I were a student or experimentor who just happened to have one on hand.

If a chip has "mysteries" I can possibly see an experienced user toying with it, but for a student that does not have the experience to know if it is the idiosyncrasies of the chip or his/her code - come on.
