It just stops showing chars. Though the debug mode shows everthing it doesn't literally print as <00> <12> etc.

The code places a char in the internal SRAM memory but it doesn't read back what it placed there. That is my reasoning for saying that it's not working. Though I've been told by a Dallas tech support rep that I've programmed it right (I know can't exactly believe everything they tell you but they are the alleged experts of this device). Though they never did answer my question on if any external hardware could cause this issue, like pullups on Port 0.

Yes I just happen to have two 32Mhz crystal modules.

Yes as I've mention I had wished I had sockets many times, but sorry I don't have a local supplier and a few dollars to have em shipped just is not in the budget right now.

Also just curious what type of terminal?

And what I meant is that I have an offer from a pcb making shop to where I can have a pcb made for free (ie a much better prototype).
