#122897 - Why should he change direction? Responding to: ???'s previous message |

Richard, please, could you quote a bit of what you respond to in your replies, I am trying to find out what you are referring to in the post wait a minute ... which, by the hierachy in the post list seems to be a reply to mine on saving pins and, if it is, ("You're the guy who says that, if you don't need some of the functions, it doesn't matter whether they work" is quoting me) it is so far off the mark that I can not follow what your post has to do with "more pins when using internal memory".
Erik My reference, "You're the guy who says that, if you don't need some of the functions, it doesn't matter whether they work", is to your comment about fully testing LCD's, which came up a month or two ago. Then you went on to imply that everyone should use a part with 128KB FLASH, etc ... It's just another version of your old, "Do it my way" argument. Don't you think the O/P's original premise should be addressed? If he wants to use an 8032, rather than whatever you like better, isn't it incumbent on those replying to treat HIS situation rather than the one they like better? How will having 128KB of FLASH help him if he wants to use external program memory? Nobody asked WHY he wants external memory. Maybe he wants, for now, to avoid all the hassles associated with the half-dozen recent queries about programming and programmers. Further, I disagree with your approach of using the part that provides "at least plenty" of memory. How does it help to have MORE internal code memory than needed if the programmer issue is still hanging unresolved, as it clearly is in several other threads? There's got to be a reaosn why most eval boards use an external code memory. It doesn't help to address a guy's question with "why do you want to do that?" even though it may be quite reasonable to wonder. RE |
