#122899 - no such impilcation
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Then you went on to imply that everyone should use a part with 128KB FLASH, etc ...
no such impilcation (if 128k flash and 8k RAM will suffice) 'implies' that if the max available internally in various derivatives is not enough, you WILL need external memory.

Further, I disagree with your approach of using the part that provides "at least plenty" of memory. out of context, the statements is: "for development use a part ...

There's got to be a reaosn why most eval boards use an external code memory.
I have 12 different eval boards here of modern design and NONE have external memory (just to stop an unnecessary reply - they are NOT all SILabs)

The real issue here is that my post was NOT a reply to the OP (the title 'on saving pins' states that clearly) the ictalisized quote at the top (why are you allergic to doing that) clearly stated that it was a reply to your statement "It does, after all, save a pin." where I replied, "if you want to save a pin, why not do it in a way that gives plenty".
