#123162 - Point missed
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Ashwin,

I asked a very specific question - "does your code comply with the Hitachi datasheet". I have no doubt it works for you - that is not the question. The question is one of compliance - if your code does not comply with the Hitachi (or applicable ) datasheet then you might be very lucky that it does ,in fact, work. It comes down to applying an engineering mindset - if spec is X then does your code comply with X? Yes or No? Tick the boxes - if all boxes ticked yes, then you are compliant and can easily prove such. I pointed out at least one discrepancy in your code - justify it to yourself - could your code be more compliant? Understand this is not an attack on yourself, but in engineering simply saying 'it works' is not sufficient. The legendary 'Therac 25' 'worked' - sometimes. At other times it nuked people. Under external scrutiny it was found the Therac 25 had multiple defects that caused it to operate erratically. I'm sure it worked just fine in the factory. If you are an engineering student you will be asked at some time in your professional career to prove compliance. It might be electrical safety - how would you do this?
