Gagandeep, the code you posted may have worked for you, but the OP's cpu is a 89C2051, so its not going to work for him. Also, your code assumes it runs on a 12clocker cpu at <=12Mhz. Most of the problems with these damn lcds is timing - so it is important to specify the cpu and clock rate. Also, in many cases, you need pullup resistors on P0.
