#140963 - beta testers? Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Do I understand it right, that for this sort of output, the optimisations will be kept "civilised" enough to be able to use these formats Yes. The hardest one to get to work (in a useful way) is procedural abstraction and we haven't implemented this (at least in 8051). The optimizations we are seeing from the OCG technique are significant without that type of optimization, and so there shouldn't be a problem with existing debugging file formats. However, based on the link you gave, this version seems to be PIC-centric....Do you have (or do you plan to have) the same for '51s It's no secret that we have been predominately focused on PICs for many years and we have a strong relationship with Microchip. We are growing; and now that (at least in the PIC world) we have produced an IDE that people love, and a code generator that will produce great results, we are taking that to other platforms. Certainly so, but I hoped for a list and/or links... :-) I didn't want to come across like we are advertising, because that is not why we are here. We talk closely with many chip manufacturers, most recently Cypress and their pSoC chips. we can ask in-depth questions - and I think nobody would object to a really brief overview of what's available. Well, for 8051 - right now we have our standard compiler. We are deleloping a PRO version which uses the OCG technology and HI-TIDE will be included with that. We've added support for almost 1000 8051 variants. Ryan is on a quest to improve debugging and then we'll probably ask if any of you guys would like to beta test it. Actually, you can sign up now here. |
