#92992 - Some practical restrictions...

Why use only two boxes connected using I2C. I would never take I2C out of my boxes. In your situation I would have used multiple boxes probably one in every room. Every box having its owns microcontroller and controlling the various appliances + your infra red stuff. t

Hi Prahlad,

Your suggestion is definitely worthwhile thinking off. But there's also finally the 220V stuff that has to be controlled.

OK, the uC will do the measurements, detections, etc. on a per-room basis with your proposal, but at the end I have to control the 220V circuits.

If I have everything regarding the controller concentrated close to the fuse box (but in a separate "low voltage" box, to be clear), then it's very easy to go from a terminal block on my PCB to the corresponding relay which is located just next to it.

If my boxes are spread all over the house, then I have still to go with lots of switch signals from the box to the fuse box to be able to switch, for instance, the relay.

I think this would be very hard to realise in practice...

Best rgds,
