Hi Greet,
I was not aware of X10 when I did my project. Just before some 2 months, I came to know about the same thru Steve. I am also interested in similar kind of Home automation/Applicance control.

I just browsed thru the details of X10 protocol. It seems that, as you are right, we have to have extra hardware overhead per electrical device. Thats why I opted for something like powerline transreceiving, just like RSxxx signalling standards. I would be very happy if I find a chip for powerline signalling. All the best for your venture. If I visit Belgium, I would like to visit your "automated" house !!
