Hi all,
This thread implicitly has more stuff, for people like me. I would like to bring one issue which is closer to the topic of disscussion. How about communicating through the 220v line? Power Line communication? (Critisims, welcomed)

I have done a similar project before but with very very low data rate, 3 pulses/second. It used power line as carrier medium. There was a chip, LM 1896 which was a power line transceiver/driver(to make life simpler), which could be used as line driver just as any RSxxx level converter. But NI has made it obsolete. ( I have been in a constant search for similar chip, have discussed here already. Someone may help me).

Geert, will it be viable for you? Do Belgian Electricity rules/regulations allow these kinds of communication thru power lines?
