This may not be needed, please do not feel insulted.

Prahlads sketch is very good, but is leaves the impression that you can have a 485 highway with stubs. That is a non-no. All my 485 stuff have 2 485 connectors and from conn 1 it goes to the board and then to conn2. This makes the stub length almost zero.

Also, do not forget to terminate.
