If IR receivers (or any such things) are involved it is a different story: with a switch you can accept 100ms minimum "pulse", with IR you need faster. So with switches and relays you can wire any which way you want, with "pulses" you need better.

are wired in bus or as a star (this is similar).
With a star, you get ternination issued and will have to reduce the speed dramatically.

So let Geert do it his way, maybe different from what is conventional.
I doubt any of us will travel to Belgium to force Geert to do anything :)
