#103817 - Limitations of SiLabs
Responding to: ???'s previous message
Erik Malund said:
You certainly can have code in external RAM
yes, but ".. a f12x or f02x .. the 8k ram on board ...."
was what I responded to
a) the 8k RAM is internal and can not be used for code
b) the f12x can not have external code memory

This would seem to be more of a limitation of the f12x or f02x rather than the '51 architecture itself. And, as I said, I'm sure his answer could have been answered by looking at the datasheet.

I was just responding to the rather blanket statement "The '51 is a Harvard device (separate code and data memory, you can not have code in the RAM." which I do not think is an accurate blanket statement. Perhaps replacing "'51" with "f12x or f02x" would have been more precise.

Regards,
Craig Steiner
