Erik is completely right. The SiLabs Debugger is a tool that is hard to use and is obtuse in more ways than in ways that it is clever. However for the entry cost of free it is one tool to use....I have used it to debug and test at least three fairly substantial projects and a few smaller ones. It is possible to get around its quirks and debug code with it.
I can say that the Keil debugger interface is way better. I've used the Keil debugger as a simulator and it works well. I have yet to try the Keil debugger with the SiLabs DEBUG-DLL that lets the Keil tool control a SiLabs target through its JTAG port. Michael Karas |
