Your experience with the JTAG-capable devices you use is of some interest to me, so if, when you come back all relaxed and rested, you could advise me as to which parts might fit in my mostly original 8032/8052 applications, I'd be very interested.
seek and ye shall find Michael Karas has posted a couple of times a little trick of using a SILabs chip as a "standard '51" replacement in order to get the "$99 ICE".
