Just been speaking to a rep; he said that Renesas has the biggest share of the microcontroller market of any manufacturer (yes, he was from a Renesas distributor)
He said 24%, and that the next was Infineon at about half that.

I didn't press him on exactly what those figures represent, but I thought readers might be interested...
