#151850 - Opinion: 8052.com hosting other company forums? |
I'm interested in hearing everyone's thoughts on something.
What would people think of having other 8052-related companies or projects host their support forums at 8052.com? If this were to happen then the additional forums would be separated like the chat board is and everyone could choose to read them or not. Presumably such companies/projects could actually create multiple forum areas to establish the organization of their discussions that they prefer. On a couple of occasions in the past I was approached by companies that were interested in doing this but at the time I declined because we only had one forum and I didn't want it to appear that 8052.com was specifically endorsing a specific company by hosting their discussions. Now, however, I'm thinking it might be convenient in that it might be conducive to a larger and more cohesive community than having forums scattered throughout the Internet with people here, apparently, monitoring forums at semiconductor companies, compiler companies, etc. Sometimes people here are referred to the forums of other providers and sometimes people posting at other providers are referred to 8052.com. It's just a thought and at this point there's no guarantee that any of the companies that were interested in doing this are still interested. Everyone probably has their own forum now they may or may not be interested in consolidating in a single place. I also don't now if any companies would be interested in hosting their forums at 8052.com given the possibility of potential competitors doing the same. Anyway, it's something I've been pondering and I'd be curious what others here thought of the matter. If most people are extremely opposed to it then I'll stop pondering it. If people like the idea, I might talk to some companies and see if they'd be interested. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
