An IDE that had a decent editor, had a decent and easy-to-use simulator, and could make calls to SDCC would advance the 8051 community plenty
the SILabs IDE has, according to some, a decent editor (not for me I ue CodeWright) a 'decent' ICE and a 'decent' assembler/compiler (4k Keil with some features e.g. a CMX TCP/IP stack that do not count against the size limit) and if you make your own board, the cost is $35 (the JTAG dongle). Erik |
