I think what Jan was thinking is that your website now would appear to be, simply put, a billboard for the various represented advertisers. The "truth" of the material presented would come into question, and the "truth" of the promotional brochures often is, and what now is interpreted as honest opinion, if not fact, will then be seen as "marketing hype," even if it's not. I don't see how a vendor-run forum would affect the perceived "truth" of a reply on this web site. It all seems pretty objective to me. A person asks a question, and the answer either works or it doesn't. Most vendors accept some pretty critical responses on their own forums anyhow. I have read scathing criticism of SiLabs on the SiLabs website from posters (some of whom appear to be regular 8052 posters). Questionable "truths" are usually ads posing as posts. And I don't see a lot of that in vendor-run forums. |
