#151956 - Of course Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Of course all these things are available for the 8051. But the problem is that someone exploring the 8051 has a lot of work to do to discover that. If someone is evaluating options, it's easy to find AVR or PIC and know exactly where to go because there is only one place to go. The 8051's strength--that there are so many providers with so many products--becomes a weakness for someone just first exploring options: It's not easily apparent how vast the options are with the 8051. So they may become aware of a small subset of what's available and compare that small subset to other options and opt for the other options having not seen everything that is available to them with the 8051 architecture.
That was another reason I've been reconsidering the possibility of hosting company forums at 8052.com. The overall 8052 market is huge, but it's easy for someone to miss that unless they are already familiar with the platform. Something else that has to be done is a complete overhaul of the very-obsolete Chips database here at 8052.com. I'm working on a redesign of the website and improving the chips database will be part of that. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
