#71994 - New scoring: Underrated/Overrated Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I have added, grudgingly, two new scoring options: "Illogically Overrated" and "Illogically Underrated." The overrated option will only appear if the message has a positive score while the underrated option will only appear if the message has a negative score.
An example of "Illogically overrated" is if you see a message that just says "Hello" and see that someone has scored it "+1 Informative." The score it was given just does not make any logical sense, so you could vote "-1 Illogically overrated." Likewise, if a post was extremely useful and you see it was rated "-1 Useless" you could vote "+1 Illogically underrated." The purpose of this is to provide, temporarily, a way to keep scorers in check. If you see messages scored unreasonably you can use the underrated or overrated options to express that. Note that "-1 Overrated" is not a negative judgement against the message, it is a negative judgement against a high score the message received (kind of like saying "Yes, the message was good, but not THAT good). Likewise, a "+1 Underrated" is not necessarily a positive judgement towards the message, it is simply a rejection of someone elses opinion that the message was that bad (i.e. "Yes, the message was bad, but not THAT bad). Once again I am concerned that this may be abused but I think it's reasonable to have these options until a more permanent meta-scoring system is in place whereby members can vote as to whether any given score is fair.
