#72003 - RE: New scoring: Underrated/Overrated Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Would it be worth adding a 'Help' button by the rating box, to provide a fuller description of the rating system? In theory, yes. In practice, many members don't even follow the instructions that appear at the top of the page when they post a new message so I'm not sure if it's going to help much--but it'd probably be a handy reference for those that already know how to use it and just need to check something real quick. I also plan on implementing Ijaz's idea where the database will keep track of who has seen the forum rules. Once implemented everyone will be forced to read the forum rules once and accept them before posting, after which a flag will be set in the database so subsequent posts won't require going over the forum rules again--until they change at which point everyone's flag will be reset. Again, I'm not sure how useful it will be since many members don't even read the 4 or 5 lines at the top of the page when they post the message so I'm not sure what the probability of them reading all the rules is, but it's worth a shot.
