#83407 - Answer time...?
Responding to: ???'s previous message
So I think it is fair to guess that faster-is-not-always-better as posted by Jan Waclawek.

In which case the answer to the riddle would be : Change in bill of material, replacing a old component with a current generation fast component. Is that it ?

And just its a weekend let me share a small story : ( Possible I may have read it here only - if so sorry...)

A guy buys a new car. Everyday after dinner time, family drives to a ice cream shop for desserts in that car. On all days when they buy Vanilla ice cream and come back, the car does NOT start. Any other ice cream and the car starts fine. Usual customer complaints, calls, check ups, reveal nothing. Matter becomes serious, with the owner insisting on the Ice cream theory and finally the matter reaches the top boss of the company. Frustrated, he sends a non-technical person to verify the veracity of the claim - and sure enough - it is correct. If they buy a Vanilla ice cream the car sits tight and doesn't move.

Enter : An engineer who can think laterally. Problem solved. Solution ? The store stocks the popular Vanilla ice cream in the frontmost counter and all other icecreams in the far back counters. So when you buy Vanilla and return *fast*, there is a vapour lock in the engine still to release. The additional time it takes to buy other icecreams provides the delay for vapour lock to release.... and the car starts..

OK its a story that is told to think laterally when faced with seemingly unsolvable issues - I do know that the story is full of logical holes - but still just read it and learn to think laterally!!
