#83419 - Faster does not mean better!
Responding to: ???'s previous message

Faster IS better if you need it. If you do not need it it is not "worse" if you know what you are doing.

Even "if you know what you are doing" using faster chips than needed can very well result in something that is "worse"! It's one of the most often given recommendations of an EMC engineer not to use faster chips than needed. Put one ACTMOS chip into an older design, which expects LSTTL chips and you will painfully experience what ground bounce can have for consequences...

If you design boards with mixed analog and digital electronics using faster chips than needed can make your design totally fail. In some cases I even use 'old' HEF4000MOS chips and smooth the edges by introducing RC-low pass filters.

So, from my point-of-view Jan is totally right: "Faster does not mean better!"
