A microcontroller is a very dynamically working thing with many internally running sub routines. Even the shortest spike or dip on supply voltage can cause serious misfunction. So, it's extremely necessary to have proper power supply decoupling, to use filtering for lines that leave the board and to use the concept of solid ground plane. The last item leads to the use of multilayer board, unless you design the simplest circuit. When using the AT89S52 I do commonly use MAX1232 and have the instruction "MOV AUXR,#00011001" at the begin of code, which sets WDIDLE, DISTRO and DISALE bits. Good luck, Kai |
